Inspire Youth Development Organization (IYDO) is a District of Columbia based grass roots organization created to motivate youth to excel academically, engage in entrepreneurial behaviors and develop leadership skills that will allow them to live “Outstanding Lives”.
IYDO motivates young people to become high achievers by developing their abilities in critical thinking, decision-making, academics and financial literacy/money management, so that they can develop the habits of highly successful individuals. The focus is slightly different at each level but the goal remains the same; inspire the young person to make positive changes in life. Our primary focus is young males ages seven to eleven. IYDO programs are a direct response to the present problem facing young African-American and other minority males in urban communities. Our programs are positioned to be most assessable to young males who otherwise would be swept into the juvenile court system or experience frequent school detention. Our goal is to identify young males who are going to have a turbulent transition to adulthood and offer a positive support system to help them avoid the pitfalls that can derail their lives. The programs operate year-round. Through these distinct programs, IYDO provides key strategies that will help young males discover their genius, and "I DO" capabilities. These young males are inspired to help themselves through the joy of personal and collective success. IYDO inspires, educates and provides entrepreneurship opportunities for young males through four distinct programs:
